Assult with a deadly weapon (meaning car) possibilities?

4 people standing in the middle of the road i had to come to a stop. After i had stopped with my foot on the brake 2 of the people attacked me and broke my nose and stole my purse. Police came and took me to jail for hitting 1 of the people that was in the middle of the road at the start cause during the attack my foot came off the brake.
