What is wrong with a woman that would stay with a child molestor?

I have a friend who's husband molested her ex-step daughter and when she found out about it she took the 12 yr old to the police, charges were filed and he was arrested. But my friend is "supporting" him. She called earlier to ask if she could take a collect call from him on our house phone, she sounds concerned about him and I think she is blaming the 12 yr old more than she is blaming her husband. What kind of thinking is this? She has a 7yr old daughter and 5 yr old son from her previous marriage, and she has a 2 yr old daughter with this guy and I am almost certain that since she found out what happened she has had those children around him. He went to jail this morning and is being held on 4 counts of child molestation. Can someone please tell me why she would stay, why she is not DONE with this man?
